1st Lichfield Company

Our Company has suffered in numbers from the Covid pandemic, although a faithful group of Boys has regularly met each week on Zoom for activities which have addressed most of the six facets of the BB Programme - Get Into the Bible, Get Creative, Get Learning, Get Adventurous and Get Involved, and to a much lesser extent, Get Active, This aspect is now being worked on now we are able to meet again face-to-face for Outdoor Activities.

Anchors:

5-8 years (Reception to Year 3)

We currently have no Anchor Section, but we expect to restart this group in September once we are again able to meet indoors. This age group will have its own programme based on six the six facets of the BB Programme listed above. Our aim is to give the Boys opportunities to have fun as well as to learn in a safe and secure environment. There are occasions when we can join with other Companies for fun and competition.

Juniors

8-11 years (Year 4 to Year 6)

The Junior section meets once a week following a programme that enables the Boys to work as a team and take more responsibility. The activities provide challenges, adventure and opportunities to learn and grow. Boys will be awarded badges and recognition for their participation in the programme.

As a Junior, Boys are now old enough to join our band and go on camps and residential trips with the company and senior section.

We encourage collaboration across the sections giving the Boys opportunities to lead and learn from each other and providing them with life skills that will stay with them.

Company

11-14 years (Year 7 to Year 9)

Company section is the heart of 1st Lichfield. Here, the Boys are encouraged to have a say and help shape their programme to suit their interests. Their programme consists of balanced and challenging activities focusing on community, recreation and skills. The Boys are encouraged to try out adventure activities, help each other and be an active participant in the local community.

Company Boys will do some activities with both Seniors and Junior Boys such as playing in the band, go on camps and residential visits. This gives them opportunities to lead others as well as learn from older Boys.

Seniors

14-18 years (Year 10 to Year 13)

Seniors are a vital part of 1st Lichfield. This is where future leaders are created. They are given opportunities to use the skills they have developed during their time in the company, leading activities for younger Boys as well as plan their own programme.

They help organise and take part in visits, residential trips and camps but will also be given opportunities to do activities that they find interesting.

Marching Band

The Marching Band has been going strong for the past 40 years. It is open to Junior and Company Section Boys as well as Seniors and Officers. The band consists of a variety of brass instruments, bell lyres and marching drums. It is proud to provide music for an Annual Remembrance Parade for the British Legion as well as events in the local community and the Mid-Staffs and Sandwell Battalion.
